Sophie Macpherson Biography
Sophie Macpherson trained at St Martin's and Camberwell Colleges of Art in London. She has been a regular exhibitor with Portland Gallery since 1995 and has rightly gathered an increasing number of followers for her paintings, which is distinctive for the mostly maritime subjects that she favours, rendered in a muted palette of colours. Macpherson's work is not possible to categorise but hints at such diverse influences as Ernst, Nash and the Scottish Colourists.
